It's a little round thing they put around the point where the tube goes into your arm. It supposedly contains heavy duty anti-bacterial stuff to help prevent infection. I'm sitting on the fence thinking about a port because the docs are considering (along with 3 orals and 1 inhaled) 3 months of IVs for my MAC infection. Ugh. They're talking about subcutaneous picc or a port or maybe needing 1 or 2 regular PICCs over the 3 months.

HEy, I thought NYC sidewalks were packed from building to curb solid with people? How do you find room to ride a bike? :) LOL. At least those are my memories of visiting the tourist parts of NYC on weekends. :D Take care, ~JulietJuliet Pagenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7924439865196022375.post-67863756728781880662009-09-12T11:20:54.037-04:002009-09-12T11:20:54.037-04:00I am scared to ride my bike now LOL!!! I'm surprised when they inserted it they didn't tell you it needed to be changed. At my hospital it is mandatory 24hrs for the first change and then weekly after that. And the PICC nurse is the one that has to make the first change so she can inspect the site.

HUGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Amyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12354849302798817593noreply@blogger.com
